SheBuilds Futures was founded in 2018 and officially launched in 2019, led by its visionary founder, Kelly Flowers. With many years of experience in the technology industry, Flowers often found herself as the only woman—and frequently the only woman of color—on her teams. This lived experience, paired with sobering industry statistics, revealed a critical gap: women make up only 23.3% of the architecture and construction fields, with Black women representing just 1%.

Driven to change that narrative, Flowers launched an all-girls architecture and construction program designed to bridge gender and racial disparities. SheBuilds Futures is now a growing movement that equips girls with hands-on skills, mentorship, and real-world experience—nurturing the next generation of leaders in architecture, design, and construction.
